The Arizona Cardinals Football Club will host the 17th annual “Football Skills and Education Camp” presented by Gatorade, SRP and Dignity Health on Saturday, May 19 from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Gilbert Christian High School (3632 E. Jasper Dr., Gilbert).
The free camp offers students from high schools across Arizona the opportunity to receive a day of classroom and on-field football instruction from professionals. The classroom segment will include instruction on life skills, physical health, hydration, and nutrition.
As part of the “Football Skills and Education Camp,” the Cardinals, in conjunction with USA Football’s Heads Up Football program, are hosting an education session geared towards mothers of the high school football players participating at the camp.
A group of current and former Cardinals players will be scheduled as position coaches throughout the day. The camp begins with check-in at 8:00 a.m. followed by classroom instruction, on-field activity and conditioning work until 2:00 p.m.
In addition Dr. Javier Cardenas, MD, a neurologist at Barrow Neurological Institute will speak to the participants at the camp and the Mom’s in attendance about concussion symptoms, prevention methods and education for parents and coaches.
